About Us

While looking for a way to use the abundance of habanero peppers from her garden, Runny Novs was born.

Founded by Synovia Gibson, New York native living in Connecticut. Raised in a Jamaican household spicy foods was second nature to her since many Jamaican cuisines used the scotch bonnet pepper. The scotch bonnet and the habanero are very closely related in not only heat but also flavor so experimenting with this pepper felt very familiar.

Although the hot sauce was created by Synovia the creative mastermind behind the name goes to her husband Andrew. One of the sure fire ways of knowing if something is spicy enough is if your nose starts running. So Runny Novs is a play on Sy(nov)ia’s name.

Our mission is to bring flavor with the heat. Many people shy away from trying spicy foods because the heat is so overpowering they can’t taste anything. At Runny Novs we want to highlight the habanero and showcase the depth of flavor it has so that it can be enjoyable. And at the end of the day keep you running back for more.
